At the meeting of the Lothians Radio Society on 13th February 2013 Malcolm Hamilton GM3TAL, who is a keen HF DXer and contester, presented some reasons for using wire antennas and described practical examples of antennas he has tried out in a variety of different locations. Wed 9th Jan - Video Evening - The Undersea War

The first meeting of the Lothians Radio Society in 2013 was the annual Video Evening, presented by Peter Dick GM4DTH on 9th January at the Edinburgh Cine & Video Society in Fettes Row. The event startred with a matinee screening of the German feature film Das Boot (The Boat). The main programme was a compilation of German, American and British films on submarine warfare and radar in WWII. This was followed by two videos shot by Peter at LRS portable contest stations in recent years. On display was a hologram of the underwater wreck of the HMS Royal Oak in Scapa Flow, Orkney, brought by Prof. Tom Stevenson from the Museum of Communication in Burntisland. Click for Full Report.
