2019-07-20-21 GB0DAM Special Event Station - Dumfries.

A special event station is being organised at Dumfries Aviation Museum for the weekend of 20/21 July 2019. The idea of this is that it is an opportunity for amateur radio operators, SWLs and others to meet each other over what is a largely scattered population.

The main groups that have been involved are Wigtownshire Amateur Radio Club, James Clerk Maxwell Group and Solway Radio Group. However, there are others who are not affiliated to these groups and you are ALL welcome – I apologise if someone (or group) has been left out, it is not my intent.

This is the first time for many years that a station has operated from the Dumfries Aviation Museum so PLEASE support it. Could it be an annual or biennial event? Hopefully someone else will organise it next time.

It is hoped to run at least one HF station and a 2m FM station – details are still being worked on. It will be from the upper floor in the old control tower where there are already radio exhibits. We are probably limited to museum opening hours for security reasons but who knows in the future.

We will certainly need persons to erect the station on the Friday Afternoon (19th July) and operators for the event. Personnel will also be needed to dismantle the station late on the Sunday. If there are offers of sourcing the equipment I welcome it BUT it should be 12V operated, PSUs will be provided that are PAT tested – a requirement of us operating at the museum.

PLEASE SUPPORT THIS EVENT

I would be grateful if you could let me know if you can help at this event, we need operators as well as personnel to help set up the station on the Friday afternoon. I do not want to be the only one there so PLEASE help.

For further details and offers of help please contact Clive, GM4FZH, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or the secretary of your group who will pass details on.

PS: On the Sunday there will be a Military Vehicle Event
