1960 - Letter from Sir Edward Appleton

It's only a letter regretting being unable to speak to the LRS, but it's signed by the great man himself

- the discoverer in 1926 of the Ionosphere, upon which we all rely in Amateur Radio.

Sir Edward Appleton was Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Edinburgh University 1948-1965.

Appleton is buried in Morningside Cemetery, less than a mile from the LRS meeting place, the Braid Hills Hotel.
