======================================
I knew Bob very well in Glasgow in the early 70s as GM8CFL He shared a flat with Alistair Mitchell GM3UDL (SK) at Buckingham Terrace, round the corner from the Beeb. I had a bedsit close by. There was a 14 ele Parabeam on the roof. Bob always looked lets say, a bit sleazy, maybe the glasses and grin or the Brylcremed hair. One day I got on the Subway in Glasgow with Rhona, then my girlfriend. This man in a grubby brown raincoat sat down opposite. Rhona was horrified when I started speaking to him like a long lost brother. She hadn’t got used to the strangeness of radio amateurs at that time .
Here’s a group of “interesting” radio amateurs from the WoSARS site.
