On July 2nd, 1925, 100 years ago, the Swedish Grimeton Radio Station SAQ was officially inaugurated. In 2025 there was a celebratory event including 2 transmissions using the unique Alexanderson alternator on 17.2kHz.

I was away from home on the 2nd, but I’m running a Web SDR which I can use remotely. The antenna is a 5ft Octagonal screened multiturn tuned loop. At the moment however it is tuned to 472kHz ,so the response is down a bit at 17.2kHz. I could hear it OK at 519, but it was a bit weaker than when I used it untuned for the Xmas transmission.
