LRS MEETINGS

LRS meetings are normally held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month (except July and August) at 8:00pm at the Braid Hills Hotel, 134 Braid Road, EH10 6JD.
In July and August Pub Nights are held at 7:30pm at Wee Bennet’s Bar at Morningside Station, on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays. There are also occasional Wee Bennet’s evenings arranged during the main club season.
Most items are archived in Meeting Reports or Society Activities.

We are currently in our summer break with no formal meetings at the Braid Hills Hotel until we start again in September. First meetings of the new club year:
Wed 10th Sept – at Braid Hills Hotel: Presidential Address by Andy Sinclair MM0FMF.
Wed 24th Sept – at Museum of Communication, Burntisland for MOC 2025 Exhibition – The Box that Changed the World – 100 Years of Television, and talk on Bletchley Park, Enigma, Y Stations – The Unsung Heroes/Heroines by Pete Bates GM4BYF. Synopsis:- One or two names are rightly well known for their parts in the system for gathering and decoding/decrypting radio messages and producing Ultra – the intelligence which made a major contribution to the Western Allies eventual success in WW2. But many others were heroes – some of whom gave their lives in the process. This presentation will highlight some of lesser known aspects of what took place. LRS pre-meeting Fish and Chips at the Sands Hotel – 5pm sharp).
Wed 1st Oct (1st Wed) – at BHH: Using Ansys HFSS for Amateur Radio Projects by Brian Howie GM4DIJ. (Ansys HFSS = High Frequency RF Simulation Software).
Wed 15th Oct – at St Fillan’s Church, Buckstone – LRS Surplus Equipment Sale. Do not arrive before 7:30pm.
Wed 29th Oct – at Wee Bennet’s Bar, Morningside Stn. – Pub Night.

Sat 1 Nov 2025 – Scottish Microwave Round Table (GMRT 2025)
The Thirteenth Scottish Microwave Round Table GMRT-2025, will go ahead between 10.30h and 17.00h on Saturday 1st November at the Museum of Communication, Burntisland, Fife. An interesting programme of speakers has been arranged, microwave test facilities will be provided and there will be an opportunity to buy components and microwave-related items. An optional Dinner will be held in the evening at the Kingswood Hotel.
